It was the Borough of Bronx where author and poet Edgar Allen Poe spent the last years of his life (1846 to 1849) and this borough gave inspiration to many who put a pen to paper including Clifford Odets, Harold Bloom, E.L. Doctorow, Herman Wouk, Grace Paley and Mark Twain.
